Database Administrator

Role Overview

As Database Administrator you are responsible for the integrity and availability of the data Corishta holds. You will keep MySQL running well as the volume grows, make sure backups are real and restorable, control who can reach the data and why, and work with the developers so that the queries they write do not slow the platform down.

Salary

This is a full-time salaried position. Salary for this role is confirmed individually during the hiring process and is based on experience; no fixed figure is advertised at this stage.

Responsibilities

• Monitor MySQL performance and tune the server configuration and indexes as the data grows
• Own the backup strategy and regularly verify that backups can actually be restored
• Manage database user accounts and access permissions, and review them periodically
• Design and review schemas with the developers for long-term maintainability
• Investigate slow queries and blocking issues and put in place durable fixes
• Run migrations safely, including during releases
• Maintain data quality checks and the procedures that keep records consistent

Preferred Skills

Candidate Profile

• Four or more years administering MySQL or MariaDB in production
• Strong understanding of indexing, query plans and transaction isolation
• Practical experience with backup, restore and replication
• Experience managing database access control and auditing who changes what
• Careful, methodical working style, since the data holds personal family information
• Experience with large relational datasets
• Familiarity with AWS RDS or a comparable managed database service
• Exposure to data protection requirements in India
