Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Role Overview

As Chief Technology Officer you own the engineering function of Corishta and the technical platform it runs on. You will set the technical direction, build and lead the engineering team, own the security and uptime of a service that holds very personal family data, and make the build-versus-buy decisions that will determine how fast the company can move for years to come. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a purely administrative one.

Salary

This is a full-time salaried executive position with a fixed annual salary. The published range is a market-referenced band for the level and is confirmed individually before an offer is made.

Fixed component: ₹42,00,000 – ₹72,00,000 per annum

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for the platform, covering architecture, data model and integration strategy
• Build, lead and grow the engineering team, and hire the people who will scale it
• Own system design and code quality standards across the engineering function
• Own the reliability, security and privacy posture of the platform, including data protection obligations
• Make and defend the build-versus-buy and platform-versus-service decisions
• Work with the verification and customer care teams to deliver the operational features they need
• Plan and run the technology roadmap in line with the business and district expansion plan
• Keep engineering honest about technical debt and make the case for fixing it

Preferred Skills

Candidate Profile

• Twelve or more years of professional software engineering experience, with at least five years leading an engineering team
• Substantial hands-on technical leadership experience in a production web or mobile platform
• Strong grasp of data modelling, API design and relational database design
• Direct experience owning security, privacy and uptime for a system holding sensitive personal data
• Experience hiring and building out an engineering team at a growing company
• Clear technical communication to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with PHP and MySQL at scale, or with a stack the team can maintain
• Experience in a consumer marketplace or a two-sided platform
• Exposure to Indian privacy and data protection requirements
