Backend Developer

Role Overview

As Backend Developer you work on the services that carry Corishta’s data: the APIs, the business logic and the integrations with third parties. You will design endpoints, write the queries behind them and make sure the logic is correct under real conditions rather than only under the happy path. You will work primarily on the server and will collaborate with engineers across the stack.

Salary

This is a full-time salaried position. Salary for this role is confirmed individually during the hiring process and is based on experience; no fixed figure is advertised at this stage.

Responsibilities

• Design and build REST APIs and the server-side logic behind them
• Write and optimise MySQL queries and design schemas that hold up as volume grows
• Integrate third-party services, including payments and messaging providers
• Implement business rules for matching, applications and payments
• Add authentication, authorisation and input validation to every endpoint you ship
• Write automated tests for the logic you own
• Support and improve internal APIs used by the field and admin tools

Preferred Skills

Candidate Profile

• Three or more years of backend development experience
• Strong PHP and MySQL skills
• Solid understanding of API design, including versioning and error handling
• Practical understanding of authentication, authorisation and input validation
• Care about data correctness and about writing code that is safe to change
• Experience with message queues or background job processing
• Exposure to AWS or a comparable cloud environment
• Experience with the native Android and iOS applications
